The 12th Bachelier World Congress of the Bachelier Finance Society will be held at FGV EMAp, Rio de Janeiro, from July 8 to 12, 2024 and will bring together academics, practicioners and researchers in Quantitative Finance. In this 12th edition, we intend to dedicate special attention to the problems of Sustainable Finance, Energy Market, Machine Learning and Blockchain.
The event will feature a group of internationally renowned researchers, together with the participation of experts from the financial market and graduate students in areas related to Computational Modeling, Stochastic Optimization, Computational Statistics, Differential Equations in Finance, and Data Science.
The congress will be hosted and it is being organised by Getulio Vargas Foundation, established in 1944 with the initial goal of training qualified administrators to work in Brazil’s public and private sectors, FGV transcended the boundaries of education and expanded into the
areas of research and information, ultimately becoming a renowned center of excellence and quality.

Terms and Conditions:
The total amount will be charged in REAIS (BRL – Brazilian Currency) – at the end of the transaction you will see the amount in BRL. There might be some discrepancy in the final total in your currency, as the exchange rate depends exclusively on the banks and credit cards companies.
Cancellation policy:
Cancellation requests must be received by email to creacteve@creacteve.com.br and the following rates apply:
- On or before 20th May 2024 – 30% cancellation charge
- From 21st May 2024 to 31st May 2024 inclusive – 50% cancellation charge
- From 1st June 2024 to 12th June 2024 inclusive – 70% cancellation charge
- After 14th June 2024 – 100% cancellation charge
Academic and Non-academic participation fee includes:

Students’ participant fee includes:

Note also that:
- Please check the correct category box. Membership status will be checked. If you choose the BFS member rate, but are not a member, your registration fee will be canceled.
- Students must upload a valid document proving their status during the registration process.

VISA REQUIREMENTS:
Visas to enter Brazil are granted by the Brazilian consulates abroad. Citizens of countries that are members of the Mercosul do not require visas, only a valid passport or valid identity document are required.
To learn more about the documentation and procedures for granting visas, see the Brazilian embassy/consulate in your country of origin.
Citizens travelling with passports from Australia, Canada and the United States visiting Brazil for tourism and business will be subject to visa requirements for entry into Brazilian territory starting from April 10th, 2025 (it has been posponed by presidential decree). These citizens can require e-Visas through the portal https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/. The process is easy, and quick and if the requirements mentioned below are met, in a few days the applicant will receive the e-Visa on his or her e-mail.

Junior Awards
Bachelier Finance Society Junior Scholar Award (PhD students or less than 2 years since PhD)
At SIG, Quantitative Researchers explore the latest concepts in financial mathematics to solve problems found in the markets. We created the Bachelier Finance Society Junior Scholar Award to recognise scholars who share the passion for cutting-edge research. This award is conferred every two years on the author(s) of the most outstanding paper submitted to the BFS Congress by junior researchers. The award is based on the content of the contribution to the submitted paper by the junior researcher(s).
The purpose of the Bachelier Finance Society Junior Scholar Award is to attract PhD students and young researchers to the BFS World Congresses.

Travel Award for Young Researchers (PhD students or less than 5 years since PhD)
Guidelines
The Travel Award is designed to support and encourage the participation of promising individuals in the field of Mathematical Finance. This award is granted to outstanding graduate students and early-career professionals who have demonstrated excellence in their research.
Deadline
The deadline for the Travel Award submission is the submission deadline of the 2024 BFS Congress.
Eligibility
- Eligibility is restricted to PhD students and junior researchers who have obtained their PhD degree less than five years before the application deadline;
- All applicants must be members of the Bachelier Finance Society by the same deadline;
- The applicant must be the presenting author of a paper at the 2024 BFS Congress.
Requirements for Submission
To enter the competition, each author has to submit the following documents: (i) a short curriculum vitae (at most two pages); (ii) a supporting letter from the Mentor or Advisor.
Prize Committee
The Scientific Committee of the BFS Congress acts as the Prize Committee. The Committee requests, collects, and evaluates nominations and finally decides on a candidate for the prize award.
Notification of Prize Winners
The BFS president will notify the recipient(s) by the same time as the “Response to authors” of the 2024 BFS Congress.
Description of the Award
The Travel Award will tentatively cover both the flights and accommodation for the winners, conditionally on fund’s availability.
